Lucas didn’t see the figure while filming.
If he had, he said later, he probably would have left immediately.
The island had once housed a small community.
Economic decline eventually emptied it.
By the time Lucas visited the region, the remaining buildings were decaying shells.
Exactly the sort of place his travel audience loved.
He wasn’t permitted to land without a guide, so he launched his drone from a boat.
The footage looked incredible.
Empty streets.
Collapsed roofs.
An abandoned church.
Then, that evening, Lucas reviewed the video.
And paused.
Someone was standing on a roof.
The Figure Was Definitely Human-Shaped
Lucas zoomed in.
The image became pixelated.
But the silhouette appeared unmistakable.
Head.
Shoulders.
Body.
He rewound five seconds.
Nothing.
Played forward.
The figure appeared.
Then vanished behind the building.
Lucas called his cameraman.
“Tell me you see that.”
His cameraman did.
They checked another angle.
Nothing.
Then, seven minutes later in the recording, they saw it again.
A dark figure.
This time standing beside the church.
That should have been impossible.
The locations were hundreds of meters apart.
Could someone have moved between them?
Absolutely.
But why would anyone be hiding on an abandoned island?
The Internet Made Everything Worse
Lucas uploaded a short clip.
Within hours, theories exploded.
Ghost.
Hermit.
Squatter.
A former resident.
Some viewers claimed the figure changed shape.
Others insisted it wasn’t a person at all.
Lucas initially enjoyed the attention.
Then somebody noticed something he hadn’t.
At one point, his drone flew past an upstairs window.
For approximately half a second…
A face-like shape appeared behind the glass.
That convinced Lucas to return.
This time with a local guide.
They Found Fresh Footprints
The island felt completely different on foot.
Buildings that looked beautiful from the air now felt unstable and claustrophobic.
They checked the rooftop first.
Nothing.
Then the church.
Nothing.
Inside a nearby house, however, the guide stopped.
Dust covered the floor.
Across it ran footprints.
Recent enough to remain sharply defined.
Someone had been there.
They followed the prints through two rooms.
They ended at a broken rear doorway.
Outside, vegetation made tracking impossible.
Then Lucas found food packaging.
Modern packaging.
Not old rubbish.
The Island Wasn’t Empty
Local authorities later explained that fishermen occasionally used buildings on the island as temporary shelter.
Urban explorers had also been known to visit illegally.
The mysterious figure was almost certainly another person.
The apparent “teleportation” between locations was easily explained by editing gaps and the amount of time between clips.
Even the face in the window could have been debris.
Mystery solved.
Mostly.
Because Lucas asked local fishermen whether anyone had been staying there that week.
Every person he spoke to said no.
Perhaps somebody didn’t want to admit it.
Perhaps another explorer had arrived unnoticed.
Lucas never learned.
But the next time he flew his drone over the island, he kept the camera pointed at that same rooftop.
Nobody appeared.
At least…
Not while he was watching.
